Morning all. We had planned to take Ds out for dinner today. Going to a fancy fast food place. Would you still go, in light of the situation?

I have no idea what a fancy fast food place is, but otherwise, yes, I would go.

catchyjem · 14/03/2020 10:33

I guess so, maybe take your hand sanitizer and wipes if you have any !

PurpleDaisies · 14/03/2020 10:34

I’d go.

Walnutwhipster · 14/03/2020 10:34

I aren't going anywhere unless I have to but my DC and I are all classed as vulnerable, including one who as CHD and asthma.

MedSchoolRat · 14/03/2020 10:38

I would love to carry on as normal, but my travel plans in next few weeks have been cancelled due to CV19 which changes lots of my private life plans, my work place is threatening to shut down, and the media keep ringing up to ask for interviews with our boss (an epidemiologist). I'm having to do media work, too.

Then we're all supposed to go to great lengths to try to avoid catching it but can't ask to deliberately get it early to just get it over with -- which frankly seems quite preferable to me, so I could plan when to be ill, rather than this "wait and see if it gets me" approach.

I totally envy anyone who can just do normal, instead. Go for it.

BarbaraofSeville · 14/03/2020 10:41

Yes, go if you can, I've got a lot of small restaurants, Street food bar type places on my Facebook and they're basically begging for custom, saying it is very quiet.

BasilDiffuser · 14/03/2020 10:52

We are carrying on as normal. Toddler DD hates being in the house which is currently being renovated so we can’t be inside in the day time Friday-Sunday. We are in rude health though and there are no confirmed cases in our county yet.

EmmiJay · 14/03/2020 10:59

Yep, we're going to a "fancy" fast food place later on today? Excited we may actually get our food quickee if its not so busy. Lots of hand wipes and washing and we're good to go.

happypotamus · 14/03/2020 12:45

I would. We are all still well, so I am planning to carry on and still go to places while I can. I intend to go to the city centre on Monday. I don't know whether to go to church tomorrow, but that's not because of any risk to us but because we will be in a confined space with very elderly people and could pose a risk to them as potential asymptomatic carriers.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 14/03/2020 12:53

I would. What's a fancy fast food place - what am I missing out on?!

BarbaraofSeville · 14/03/2020 12:55

Fancy fast food I would imagine is somewhere that does things like burgers, kebabs, pizza, Indian etc but with nice quality meat, bread, salad etc, a cut above the cheap takeaways.

Wallowinginfilth · 14/03/2020 13:00

Holly
Gourmet burger, pizza Express et al.

Isadora2007 · 14/03/2020 13:01

Yes id go.

LuckyLickitung · 14/03/2020 17:31

We're a low-risk demographic so carrying on as normally as we're allowed to with a bit more care on frequent hand washing.

I don't want cabin fever any worse than it has to be if/ when that point comes.

There's nasties such as flu/ norrovirus around all the time. In the absence of specific health concerns, I'd rather keep mine and my family's immune systems well socialised to normal environments.

HunterAngel · 14/03/2020 17:31

“Until such time as the world ends we will act as though it will continue to spin on”

Go, take hand gel, wash hands throughly but most importantly enjoy yourself!

nameymcnamechangeagain · 14/03/2020 17:33

I want to know where you’re going, and yes I would, me and my lot are carrying on as normal. I have a cough, but I most certainly believe it is JUST a cough.

mbosnz · 14/03/2020 17:56

We went out for lunch today. I figure soon we might not be able to, so I wanted to take the opportunity now - as much as anything to support our favourite eatery!

Whatthefunk · 14/03/2020 18:42

I only said, fancy fast food, to make the point that we wouldn't be nose to nose with people, like you are in McDonalds. We went, we ate, we enjoyed Grin
Lots of other people were out and about. There almost seemed to be a party atmosphere

Its bad enough we will end up cancelling our planned holiday abroad,I'm not stopping doing anything I normally would in this country.

Michaelbaubles · 14/03/2020 18:52

We went out yesterday. God knows it might be the last chance for a while, and it’s good to support businesses while you can.

BarbaraofSeville · 14/03/2020 18:54

McDonald's is far more spacious than the 'fancy fast food' places I go to, which definitely prioritise food over surroundings, with cramped communal tables, seats at the bar etc.
