Balls up and haven't bought travel insurance for August

Booked a very expensive (for me) holiday to Croatia for me and DS for August. Kept meaning to get travel insurance but not got round to it. Now can't seem to find any insurance which will cover cancellations unsurprisingly. Any advice please. And yes I know I'm an idiot

Is it worth checking if you get it automatically with your house insurance, bank account or credit card?

InArrears · 13/03/2020 22:10

Well, if you've paid for it anyway. Get travel insurance to cover everything else and hope for the best.

MyMushroomsInATimeSlip · 13/03/2020 22:18

Flamingo I'm fairly sure it's not included in anything I have unfortunately.
I really cant see the holiday happening but would be helpful to get at least some of the money back.
Going with friends who I think are much more organised and have insurance. One has booked flights on their credit card and one booked the accommodation.

You'll be covered drama n your credit card and also by abta

probablynotthesame · 13/03/2020 22:42

If you go onto the Martin Lewis website he has a section on travel insurers that have confirmed in writing that they will cover for corona virus I was in the same position as you are!

MyMushroomsInATimeSlip · 13/03/2020 22:43

Thank you probably! I'll check that tomorrow. Mumsnet to the rescue!

Have you booked a package or all parts separately?

Gohackyourself · 14/03/2020 07:18

Have you only paid deposit or whole thing?

mumme111 · 14/03/2020 08:23

Same here! Lol saved for 2 years for our first holiday as a single parent family for August was gonna buy insurance on payday but now can't and really think I need to cancel before I lose too much money 😞 my kids will be devastated x good luck op x

Sallycinammonbangsthedruminthe · 14/03/2020 08:34

stay sure ....they are about the only ones left covering and especially with medical cover too as I need they also have an add on for corvid19 or at least they had yesterday ..I too am gong in august ...be prepared to pay highly inflated prices though...I was shocked yesterday.

Isthistrueor · 14/03/2020 08:34

It’ll all have blown over by August.

CheekyMango · 14/03/2020 08:40

Depending on how you bought it, package or piecemeal....it may be ATOL protected which I'm sure would cover cancellation due to this x

EnglishGirlApproximately · 14/03/2020 11:27

ATOL is for airline failure it doesn't cover this at all. If its booked as a package it will be covered under Package Travel Regulations. If booked separately it will depend on the policies of the individual providers.
