Cheapest way to get a spare iphone

My iphone is playing up a bit and I have over 500 days on my contract - I went for contract only, not a new phone, which turns out was a bit stoopid. I would prefer not to be without phone in these current times eg if alone at home and isolated - so thought I would look into getting a spare as an upgrade v expensive. Am not concerned about being latest model - I just want one in reserve that I could put my sim in if my current phone stops working. Anyone know the best/cheapest way to do this? My current phone is an iphone 6s if that makes a difference re sim size etc

How much do you want to spend?
Go to somewhere like cash converters or cash generators.
They sell handsets.
Look for - price, condition, network (same as yours or unlocked)
Buy phone.
Swap sim in to it .
Shop will usually do that for you, so you can see it working.

500 days? How old is the phone? Take it up with the retailer/Apple.

I didn't know they did 2 year sim only contracts .

Maybe £150 or so @MyNameHasBeenTaken but I guess how would I know everything worked eg volume, touchscreen etc.
Are there official second hand iPhone retailers?

Try Music Magpie. They recall fully refurbished with a short warranty too.

There are sites selling reconditioned IPhones here in Ireland anyway. We bought dd a phone from Mint+. It developed a fault and they replaced it without any issue.

They are all fully refurbished doh!

Pansypath · 16/03/2020 11:51

That is brilliantly helpful though. Am going to buy one in music magpie. Thank you

A bit late to the party but I got my MacBook Pro from music magpie and I couldn’t be happier with it. You can choose which ‘tier’ of condition you’ll accept so I went for the middle one but when the laptop arrived it was in immaculate condition - not a mark on it. I was nervous buying reconditioned but I’d really recommend them!

Another vote for music magpie never buy anywhere else.
