I’ve just had DD to the health visitor clinic to get her weighed and it wasn’t our usual HV, it was an older, much more abrupt lady who told me DD was a concern as at 14 months she isn’t standing by herself unsupported or making any progress to walking independently.

I assumed DD wasn’t ready yet as she cruises on furniture and will occasionally walk a step or two if you hold her hands, otherwise she sinks to her knees.

She’s not that far behind is she?

New HV made it out to be a massive deal.

Thank you.

DS crawled at 10m and walked at 18. He took steps at 15m but it's true what they say, they'll do it when THEY are ready. He went from zero to confidently walking 100% of the time in a couple of days. I wouldn't be concerned at 14m.

DD was about 22 months. I think it was about 18 months before she could actually stand. We were worried and ended up seeing our GP who referred us to a physio. she was not too concerned because her fine motor skills were good but gave us a few exercises to do with her.For another reason we had to see an ooh GP who was shocked that she couldn't bear any weight and said that she had a calcium and vitamin D deficiency and worried me to death. I ended up back at my GP who was rather shocked and dismissed this straight away. It just happened for her in her own time. It hasn't held her back, she's been very sporty and active ever since.

My GD started crawling about 15 months and at 18 months has just started walking. Very unsteady but it’s a start, she does have a large vocabulary and is speaking in short sentences though.

14 months isn’t late, it’s perfectly normal and average. They only become concerned if they’re not walking after 18 months. I have four DC and they all walked between 14 and 16 months.

I didn’t even crawl fwiw, I just bum shuffled until I was 18 months when I decided to walk. I’m still pretty lazy now Wink.
