Cervical Ectopy / Erosion and TTC

Hi, I’m new here :)
Just thought I’d ask this question here as I can’t find anything about it anywhere else! I have been diagnosed with a cervical ectopy (sometimes called cervical erosion)
I’ve been told by several doctors now that it doesn’t affect fertility but been TTC for 2 years and no joy. Me and my partner have both had fertility tests and all came back completely normal (which was a relief!)
My symptoms are that I’ll start spotting/discharge 5-7 days before my period is due and it continues until my period arrives. I always assume the spotting means I’m out for that month and can’t be pregnant but just wondered if anybody else has had this but had a positive pregnancy test after the spotting/discharge?? Driving myself crazy each month wondering if I should keep my hopes up or not! Thanks Smile

I have had this also, managed to get pregnant no worries but the spotting confused me as to my cycle and when I was most fertile. I got ovulation tests (the ones you pee on like preg tests) which helped a lot! I was told they could treat it but the treatment can cause your cervix to shorten so would make you more likely to go into early labour. I’ve never had the treatment and it seems to have settled down since having my ds x

Thanks for replying, good to know its possible to get pregnant without treating it, congrats on your ds :)
I’ve heard if you don’t treat it you’re more likely to have bleeds during pregnancy though, do you mind me asking if that happened to you?
Also did you have the spotting before you got your positive pregnancy test?

Yes I did have spotting in the first half of my pregnancy, I had quite a bad bleed at around 22 weeks and had to go to hospital to be checked but it was just the cervical erosion. Gave me a scare! They said it was normal to spot thru pregnancy with it. I did have spotting before my positive test, I remember actually meeting by friend and having a bit of a cry about it as it felt like it was taking forever to fall pregnant. I got my positive test a couple of weeks later! It took me around a year to conceive but I think I was missing my fertile window every month as the spotting was confusing me. It was when I was in hospital getting checked by the consultant and was first diagnosed with the erosion, one of the nurses told me to get the ovulation sticks and I fell pregnant a couple of months after using them! I remember being really surprised when they showed I was ovulating as it was total opposite to what the app on my phone I had been using was telling me. Good luck!

@Sherloidbaisherloid That must have been scary! Glad everything was fine in the end for you Smile
It’s good to know the spotting doesn’t necessarily mean I’m not pregnant. Yeah I use ovulation sticks and I’m definitely ovulating which is good, hopefully it will happen for me soon! Thanks for replying, you’ve helped me feel a lot better x
