Unexpected money, what to buy?

So I was clearing out my wallet and found some zloty from when I used to travel to Poland with work. I've changed my job so converted it back to gbp. I've got 45 pounds, what to buy?
I'm not into makeup or perfume or anything like that. I'm hopeless at treating myself to anything.

A massage or facial?

sashh · 13/03/2020 05:34

@pussycatinboots beat me too it.

What do you enjoy? I'd probably have a couple of friends round and order take away and some wine.

BarbaraofSeville · 13/03/2020 06:21

But don't you ever want anything?

Books
Posh chocolates
Alcohol, eg if you like gin, you could buy a really fancy bottle that you couldn't normally justify and some posh tonic to go with it.
Lunch out somewhere nice not just soup
Anything for a hobby
New bag or purse
Nice stationery, pens etc

Just another thought, a lesson of some type, riding, painting, pottery, wine tasting...

Something you have always wanted to try.

I'd buy some nice new comfy loungewear, nice food/takeaway and a dvd personally!!

Toilet paper

PrimeraVez · 13/03/2020 06:53

God there are some killjoys on here!

I would spend it on one of the following:

  • facial
  • massage
  • a pair of lovely pyjamas
  • some decent underwear (eg not a multipack of M&S knickers!)
  • a lovely lunch with a friend/partner

Enjoy!

OK, I've just seen an excellent idea. I want to learn how to bake properly but was put off by the cost of the course and ingredients, maybe I should go for that.

Hand sanitiser from eBay because toilet roll has already been done

BikeRunSki · 13/03/2020 12:07

Wine

Barbara if you've had a period of not being able to spend money on those things due to lack of funds then you do stop wanting them. To some extent anyway. I don't go and look at things in the shops because it's pointless. I'd really struggle to think of something I want if someone said I had to spend €50 on myself! I'd probably just go out to dinner with a couple of friends, that's something I miss.

@Timetogiveupnow that's a great idea. I love cooking courses. A few years back I took a knife skills course at Jamie Oliver's cooking school and it improved my cooking times tremendously! I also realized that I had horrible knives and now regularly buy good knives.
