Spotting or period?

I'm not trying to get pregnant but I have been having some pregnancy symptoms such as bloated belly, lower pains, mild nose bleeds, sore throat, metallic taste...but then my period was due in a week or so, so I thought I'd wait to see if it comes. It did but it lasted a day. Is this spotting? How heavy is spotting? Do you spot throughout pregnancy or just the once?

Have you done a pregnancy test?
I think some people spot throughout pregnancy but my understanding is that everyone is different.

@Sunnytimesahead it would be really hard for me to get and do a test subtly, that's why I was waiting for my period to tell me. It was so short I dont know if it was spotting or period. I guess I'm going to have to try and get a test

I'm being nosey now but why do you need to do a test subtley? Are you okay?
I think as the bleeding was so short it seems like it was not your usual period. I think a test is the only definitive way to know.
You could book an appointment at the doctors instead if a home test would be too difficult to buy and use.
