Help! Can I fix this zip?

I went to sew the seam on this backpack and found the tear has gone right up to the zip. Is this fixable at all? I’m a novice sewer but will give it a good crack!

First thing to do is to get the zip joining thing onto the other side of the zip thread, then make sure as far as possible the two ends are equal, shut the zip slightly.
Then sew the bottom of the zip together over the middle, check the zip works then sew the rip if possible from the inside.
The bag won't be as strong as before though as there will be different stresses on the fabric, you could try wonderweb that you iron on to strengthen the repair if the bag fabric will iron use a teatowel over wonderweb or it sticks to iron and is a bugger to get off. Voice of experience there
