Starting a new thread because the old one is full, I never thought when I started it that it would a) be moved to Classics and b) help so many people.

Oh my goodness I've been lost in space! American election had me entirely consumed, but my guy won, whether the Orange Horror acknowledges it or not. I can finally breathe again.

And take a turn on the night shift. Send your worries over here!

Bearnecessity · 13/11/2020 04:45

Up...cos I am fretting about a shed delivery on my allotment and hoping the weather is good enough to be able to build the thing...that and a low rumbling existential angst about getting old and the impermanence of life and one day having to shuffle off while my ds remains.

Ningnang2000 · 13/11/2020 05:29

Well this thread has had me in floods. I haven't read through but what a lovely place to have. The kindness of strangers astounds me sometimes. My worries always feel petty when I write them down but knowing there is somewhere like this is reassuring. Bit late to save tonight's sleep for me.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 13/11/2020 06:45

@Bearnecessity it comes to us all,if we are so lucky, but you're right. It is a big worry if you give it space

Here's to the shed being built and filled very soon.

Try to get a little more rest, if you can. I've got these worries for you.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 13/11/2020 06:47

@Ningnang2000 glad you found us.there is always someone here to take these pension worries and hold them while you rest. Just pass them on, and then go be. It works.

HannaYeah · 13/11/2020 12:31

@Hailtomyteeth

Thank you! It’s bizarre how much chocolate helps.

Bearnecessity · 13/11/2020 16:52

Bless you 2018,shed was part built, will finish tomorrow....I will definitely sleep tonight I haven't stopped all day....

HannaYeah · 13/11/2020 18:39

We really need this space right now!

@Frownette you are doing the best thing possible right now - thinking of others. Good reminder for me.

My Mom told me she thought hell was the separation of people. I keep thinking about that and wanting to do more to connect better with others. I’ve been so busy with work/home that I’ve not been very connected. So I especially love this thread.

HannaYeah · 15/11/2020 01:45

I’m here with beef stew and a Wild West movie if anyone needs to drop off worries for the night.

DramaAlpaca · 15/11/2020 01:55

And I'm here for a while with a couple of sleepy spaniels who are great for smothering worries.

HannaYeah · 16/11/2020 01:10

I’m here again tonight if anyone needs worries minded. Everyone can just leave COVID worries here, too. Might as well keep them all in one pot.

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 16/11/2020 02:12

I’m also here. The cat is being an absolute shit tonight and is keeping me awake, so he can keep any worries under control for you.

HannaYeah · 16/11/2020 23:04

@GenuineKlatchianPottery

That cracked me up last night. Probably because my own were behaving similarly.

Did you ever see the movie Cats Eye?

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 16/11/2020 23:21

Hi @HannaYeah, hope you’re doing ok? It’s been nice seeing all the familiar faces back again Smile.
No I’ve not seen it, I’m a total wuss and don’t watch any horror type movies.
The little git is trying to knock everything off my bedside table at the moment, he’s just dragged his water bowl down the hallway, dunked his feet and then came and patted my faceConfused
I’m happy to take care of any worries that anyone needs watching overnight.
It must be about a year since @NaomiFromMilkShake
started the original thread.

DramaAlpaca · 16/11/2020 23:24

Hi again! It's such a lovely thread to have been part of, isn't it? I pop in whenever I spot it in Active. It's great that it's still going.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 16/11/2020 23:32

It really is such a great safe place.thanks for always turning up! Cats too

FinallyFluid · 17/11/2020 00:38

It is about a year at least, and life has improved immeasurably, I would have said I went through chemo and radio, went through it, not sailed through it, although it was on reflection grim. I am however here to tell the tale, so all is well. IMO

I was one of the lucky ones, I finished my treatment the day they locked us down, my good friend and hair messer had shaved my head on the Friday. I now have a great head of short hair, I aspire to longer hair, but all in good time.

I was classified as CEV and furloughed, I slept for twelve hours a day for the first week or so, I always say I did my best healing on Boris's dollar.Grin

I won't bore you with ups and downs of being furloughed, financially it was fine, mentally I struggled towards the end.

This thread was a great help to me at the time and I love dipping in and out, I am delighted that people are still taking solace from it.

MN at it's very best.

DramaAlpaca · 17/11/2020 00:47

@FinallyFluid so glad to hear you're doing well Flowers

User258544 · 17/11/2020 01:00

Thats lovely to read @FinallyFluid.

I have ridiculous worries. I'm worried about what I am eating. I feel I can't win. I started a new medication that has long term possible negative effects so a healthy diet is important. I also have eczema and I generally find eating healthy helps this too. I then did some research about things to avoid due to my condition. Also it was mentioned that I could avoid certain things. Research is inconclusive. This would make my diet v restrictive to follow. On top of this I have weight to lose and calorie counting is boring and repetitive. I've gone to bed hungry, I have eaten enough calorie wise, maybe 1200, though not enough fibre. Also I think this medication is affecting

User258544 · 17/11/2020 01:02

my magnesium levels which is why I can't sleep. I just want to eat and enjoy food. Its the anxiety that is the issue. But that is no way to live.

CormoranStrike · 17/11/2020 01:07

Oh I am so glad I saw this thread tonight.

My daughter is suffering from poor mental health, and not sleeping well.

Tonight I am finding it hard to switch off myself, listening out for her.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 17/11/2020 01:21

ah @User258544 that sounds rubbish. Sorry you are going through this!

Perhaps ask if you can take a magnesium supplement?

@CormoranStrike I'm sorry. When our DC are in trouble of any sort, it gets us all. I am sorry- - I hope she is getting some help.

I shall gladly hold both of your worries and fears tonight, and you can just snuggle up. Go on. Close your eyes. I've got you. It is all good for now.

CormoranStrike · 17/11/2020 01:26

@2018SoFarSoGreat the kindness of your words has made me well up

Thank you

2018SoFarSoGreat · 17/11/2020 01:48

@FinallyFluid I'm so glad you are out the other side. I'm sure it was hard, and I'm delighted we were here to lift the load a tiny bit.

HannaYeah · 17/11/2020 03:32

@GenuineKlatchianPottery

I am doing pretty well, under the circumstances. Hope you are also?

My Cats Eye synopsis: cat is looked upon with suspicion, and blamed for bad Nighttime behavior. But really cat is basically a superhero saving lives at night. 🤣

So good to “see” everyone else here tonight.
