12 Week Scan

Hi lovelies :)

Just wondering if anyone can give me any advice or put my mind at ease. I had my 12 week scan and baby was wiggling around. I dated 13+2 - however, when the sonographer tried to test for down syndrome/ other abnormalities baby was in such an awkward position and they couldn't measure the fluid at the back on the neck. She sent me off for a wonder but to no prevail as baby was still being stubborn lol. She said she was perfectly happy with babies anatomy but just couldn't get the measurements.
I'm now panicking as I have to wait for the blood tests later on at 16 weeks. Anyone experienced this?
Also if she is happy with the anatomy of baby is that enough to relax me?

Hope someone can help x

A baby with attitude already! Some just don’t cooperate which as you have found makes screening tricky. It is very good that basic anatomy looks normal. The nuchal (back of the neck) measurement is only really useful if it is possible to measure at this scan & is used as part of the combined test. Without that the quad test is offered by the NHS but is slightly less sensitive. It can be done from 14+1 weeks so suggest you phone the screening midwife at your hospital and ask for it to be done next week. You do not have to wait for 16 weeks.
You could consider NIPT (SAFE test/Harmony etc) but would have to pay for that - £300+
Hope that helps

This exact thing happened to me a few weeks ago! I went for my scan on Feb 24th, at 13 weeks, and baby was just not in the right position. The sonographer made me do star jumps and walk around, but no joy. She said everything looked fine, but she couldn't take the nuchal measurement. I'm due for my Quad blood test tomorrow (I'll be 15 weeks 4 days). It's annoying, as DH and I aren't telling anyone until we know the results, so I've had to hide my belly area for an extra couple of weeks.
