Cow and Gate updated formula and persistent diarrhoea.

We are now on day 11 of diarrhoea. I have had him at the doctors twice, we have done a stool sample which we are still waiting to hear about. He is fine within himself otherwise, he was a wee bit sick around day 3 but not much. He hasn't had a temperature at all.
I am at a loss to explain now, and getting pretty tired of washing 3-4 changes of clothes a day. Beginning to wonder if it's the updated formula and if anyone else is experiencing similar? He is 8 months.

I could have posted this exact thing! DC is also 8 months and we are onto week 3 with diarrhoea. We’ve also got a sample to send off and been referred to peads for testing. I hadn’t considered the formula change but we’re having at least 3 explosive nappies a day Sad

Are you using follow on or the first formula?

socktastic · 10/03/2020 13:13

We are on the follow on milk. I did see some old packs in asda today and was tempted...

We had this. Changed to Aldi milk.

Watching as currently giving cow and gate to my newborn, how worrying Sad

We are using stage one and don't seem to have any issues, I was actually concerned she wasn't pooing enough! You could try using stage one instead? As far as I know stage one can be used all the way through

NinjaRule · 10/03/2020 13:52

Follow on here too. I’m going to switch back to first and see if it makes a difference.

She’s been on C&G since birth (combo fed) and we’ve never had any issues - even when they changed the formula in first.

Thanks for starting the thread, madness that the bloody milk hadn’t even occurred to me Confused

I use cow & gate stage one and haven’t had any issues. You can still use stage one for 8 month olds so there is no harm in switching back if you want to see if it will make a difference.

I think the issue may be that they've all been reformulated to meet EU regulations. May try a different brand. Looks like it's the reason for the diarrhoea though

Have you changed over @socktastic?

We swapped back to first and her poo does seem to be thickening and we’ve gone down to two poos a day 🤞🏽

Sylv23ea · 21/03/2020 20:02

I've had exactly the same issue. 3 weeks today of persistent diarrhea. He was fine with the cow and gate formula since he first had it, then after they updated the formulation he's had a terrible stomach. He's well in himself apart from his belly... Think I'll try a different brand but if it was a legal requirement to add the new stuff in, then I don't see how another brand could make it better? Sorry to see others going through the same but also glad to know I'm not alone!

Selfsettling3 · 21/03/2020 20:05

Following on milks are harsher on tummies which is why they are not recommended.

Sylv23ea · 22/03/2020 07:53

We're on the number 1 milk and having this issue

Vik2007 · 22/05/2024 21:58

My 15 week old is on gow n gate stage 1 and persistent diarrhea for 8 weeks now. We've done poo sample come back clear.

First baby and at a loss do I change her milk if so any suggestion on what milk as they all more or less have same ingredients don't they? Any help would be appreciated xx
