So with my first I was induced and took me 3 days with 2 pessaries and 2 gels to get to 1cm which is when I had my waters broken and put on a drip..

Yesterday I had a sweep and was 2cm soft and central. She could feel babies head and gave it a good going as she said!

Any stories of sweeps when you've been 2cm dilated soft and central please?

I'm booked in for another on Friday

I had a sweep with my 2nd but I was 0cm, hard and facing the back of the vagina. It worked though, he arrived at 8 the next morning!

@socktastic thank you. I had it at 5pm yesterday and have had period pains on and off all night since but no baby yet unfortunately.

I know it can take 48 hours to work and Some cases not at all. Just hope one of them will work so I can get my vbac on mlu 🤞

I opened this expecting tales of interesting encounters with chimney sweeps. Very disappointed.

I've had sweeps with both my pregnancies but in honesty I think its sex that did the trick for me

The first I was 40+8, had the sweep 11am, lost some plug in the afternoon.had sex that night and went into labour the next afternoon, in fairness I was that far over neither the sweep or the sex might have helped

Second time I was 40+4, had a sweep at 1pm, sex that evening and woke in labour at 1am

Good luck to you

With my second my waters broke about 5.30 in the morning. The midwife came over at breakfast time (home birth). and said I was about 2 centimetres. She came back after lunch and I was still 2 cm so she did a sweep and I was 8/9 cm an hour later with very little pain. My lovely girl was born an hour later. Two hours after that I was all stitched up (small tear) and me, DH and midwives all sat in a circle on the bed admiring the new baby and having delicious coffee and cake.

I was due on the Sunday 30th august 2015, I was booked in for a sweep originally on the Wednesday, but I started having contractions on the Tuesday so I decided to see if things would progress naturally. They didn't so I ended up having a sweep at 3pm on the Friday (40+5).
I got to the hospital at 9 that evening, was in the birth centre by 10.30, had my waters broken around 2am, then gave birth at 6.58am the Saturday morning (40+6).
It didn't hurt or feel uncomfortable at all and it did help move things along (the head wasn't fully engaged so things wouldn't have progressed on their own).

I had a sweep yesterday at 39 weeks. The cervix was moving forward (although not completely central yet), with the external os open to 1cm, but the internal os closed.

Midwife could feel babies head. 24 hrs later and ive had nothing but some bloody discharge. I dont think its going to put me into labout tbh, but if it nudges things along just slightly then its worth it imo. Got another booked for next week, so we'll see if its had any effect at all.

Sweep didnt hurt at all btw
