My tonsil looks like it has its own clitoris

I've had a little protrusion from one of my tonsils for a few years, I noticed it after an infection. It normally just looks like a little sticky out triangle. However I've got a sore throat at the moment and just had a look and as my tonsils are swollen it now looks absolutely ridiculous

Any ideas as to what it is? Or anyone have anything similar?

I'm not sure what to say other than well done on the pic.

It's definitely not a tonsil stone, which I do get a lot, it's flesh coloured.

I have this , but my dr says it’s because I’ve had tonsillitis a couple of times in a short period of time so it grew this weird...growth. Mine has started to go down again after gargling salt water . Not sure if that’s any help to you!

It’s probably just scar tissue but anything like this should be checked out by your doctor and potentially referred to the oral health department at the hospital just to make sure it’s nothing sinister (I have had biopsies taken for something similar).

@itsemily I've had quite a few bouts of tonsillitis (hence the tonsil stones ) so it could well be that!

I've never thought of getting it checked out because it's been there a few years and doesn't seem to hurt or bother me.

What will it birth? A small fleshy baby tonsil? Thousands of tonsil stones like a giant lumpy male sea horse?

i suffer with tonsiltis although i dont have this growth but im assuming the infection and tonsil stones have caused a hole in your tonsil and that growth is just scar tissue?

Does a tonsil clitoris help or hinder a gag reflex?

I do have a little bit of a cough, and a very very mild fever. DP had a terrible flu-like thing last week with a really high fever, awful throat and a really high pulse. He was only ill for a few days though. I started showing symptoms 5 days after coming home from work (I work in a different city every other week.)

No foreign travel, although DP does work with a company where they've had samples of coronavirus come through on their way to labs. Could it have...escaped?

I’d maybe see a GP (being serious now) it could be from a previous abscess or something so best to get it checked

I worked with a girl who had this though she described it as a finger sticking out of her tonsil rather than a clitoris! I can't remember the exact diagnosis but something similar to a polyp maybe? She was offered removal of her tonsils on the NHS but was still weighing up whether to go ahead last I worked with her.
