80s TV play type prog about Women who sleeps with her DDs boyfriend

I thought it was a 'Play for Today' but wikipedia doesn't seem to have any titles that ring a bell. But it feels like a 'Play for Today' in format. It was a one-off 80s thing, a bloke turns up at a house looking for his girlfriend who isn't there. He and the mum end up having sex. Someone was wearing a leather jacket. That's all i've got...

At one point I thought it was called Looking for Linda but obviously all the searches just throw up the stupid song.

Anyone?

This reminds me of something... was there a series of phone calls for someone unknown to the mum (think the name was Vicki something), as the daughter had given her boyfriend a false name? She was only 14 but pretended to be older.

Mum and boyfriend meet and then it ends with mum going and meeting her daughter wearing the boyfriends T-shirt.

Something like that?

Bouquet of Barbed Wire?

WaitroseIsMySpiritualHome · 10/03/2020 07:54

@Lycanthropology. oooh the phone calls sound right i think. Yes - that could be it.

@RedIsWhereItsAt. No, it was a one off not a series and the daughter didn't feature much at all. It was all about the mum and the boyfriend.

It really stuck with me as I was young and I found the premise very shocking at the time.

Yes, Bouquet Of Barbed Wire had a similar storyline where the mother slept with her daughter 's partner. He was American, and the mum was called Cassandra.

Ha, I was lying in bed last night trying to remember the details of this... if we’re thinking of the same one!
Would have been around 1979-81. The “play” started with phone calls, a man asking for “Vicky La... (something or other)” and getting annoyed with mum when she says there’s no one of that name there.
After being suspicious of her 14 YO DD, she follows her and sees her meeting a young man with leather jacket and T-shirt with a skull or some sort of monastery face on it. The DD takes off her top and clearly sex is going to happen.
Mum somehow manages to meet and confront the boyfriend, tells him DD is only young. Then they have sex! Then when the DD later goes to meet her boyfriend her mum turns up instead, wearing the T-shirt, so she’s letting her know it’s over now and they walk home together.

I was about 11 or 12 when it was on. The bizarre thing is I wasn’t shocked by it: I thought perhaps teenager and adult lives were complex so it was just like that; also, there was a lot of such morally dubious stuff on TV in the 70s! I barely remember the mum and boyfriend sex.
It’s also a bit shocking that the girls boobs were shown and she was only supposed to be 14 (though I’d imagine the actress was older)!

*monstery!

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 10/03/2020 11:09

I vaguely remember something with Anne Reid IIRC, and a young man who kept asking for Vicky who lived in the "top flat".

qwert9873 · 10/03/2020 11:27

@DisgraceToTheYChromosome was that the film The Mother with Daniel Craig?

WaitroseIsMySpiritualHome · 10/03/2020 12:03

Oooh yes that is ringing all the bells @Lycanthropology, I"m sure of it! I think that's maybe why I was so shocked - the naked boobs, which would have been quite a thing back then. I'd forgotten that but now you mention it, I think I remember them being in the grass and her pulling off a white tshirt.

The whole thing felt really 'raw' to my little brain at the time.

Now I just need someone to remember what it was called :)

BUT I am SO HAPPY that some of you remember it. It's been annoying me for about... fifteen years Confused

I think it might be this, but there is no plot description.

But my god, I think it might be!

I think that may be it, Waitrose!
I googled the first named actress and pretty sure I recognise her as the mum.
And yes, daughter takes off her t-shirt on the grass as they meet by a country lane near her home!

WaitroseIsMySpiritualHome · 10/03/2020 20:23

This is SO SATISFYING.

I have been mumbling about. this to people for years and getting blank looks. I want to watch it now but think that may be asking too much.
