Does anyone know what's wrong with me?

I'm curious to know if anyone has experienced what I have, and if they know what's caused it.

My 'symptoms' are:

  1. I don't have any eggs of my own (needed donor egg IVF to conceive)

  2. I don't have a libido at all, although I can orgasm. It wouldn't bother me if I never had sex again

  3. My FSH and LH levels were really high when I was 28, leading my doctor to assume I was perimenopausal

  4. No other women in my family have been infertile - mother, grandmothers, sister, aunties all fine

Am I just randomly faulty, or is there a name for this? Or are there any conditions that produce these symptoms/effects?

Just having a wee ponder of an evening!

I think no eggs/having few eggs may mean autoimmune? Something along the lines premature ovarian failure? Which may in turn might be linked to hormones & seeming to be peri menopausal - I’m not sure.

Could be worth looking into but I suspect you may be as you seem to be aware of needing donor eggs.

Hoping you’re ok, OP x

I was told I don't have number 1. I took clomid to produce egg is that possible.

Oh that's interesting, @365calendar - it was only when my doctor "threw everything at it" during my fourth round of donor egg IVF that I finally got pregnant; which meant aspirin, Inhixa (an anti-coag) and prednisone (a steroid) in addition to the normal hormones. I think the prednisone was intended to counter any possible autoimmune response . . .

And thank you, I'm absolutely fine - I've had dark moments over the years, but I have my beautiful twelve week old daughter now as a result of that donor egg IVF cycle (I'm so grateful to the amazing woman who donated her eggs and made this dream come true for us!)

I think clomid makes you release more than the normal one egg per cycle, @happytobeheresparkl - which would then increase your chances of conception. But if you don't have any eggs in your reserve to begin with, you can't release any, so clomid wouldn't help in my situation. I wish you lots of luck though - I've heard it's really effective so fingers crossed for you!

I'd love to know why I'm 'defective' like this - what the possible causes would be. But of course it's not a chronic condition and there's nothing to be gained by ploughing resources into investigations. Yes, I would have loved to have had a child naturally, I'd love a libido so I'd feel all the desire I've only ever read about, but I have DD now which is more than I ever thought possible, so I consider myself incredibly lucky.
