Has anyone had this done recently?

Have researched and glad to see it doesn't hurt much but reading lots to say how hard it is to sleep on that side for days/weeks/months/ever?!

Is that true?

I had mine done on a whim 6 months ago. Once the initial discomfort settled down , there isn't any actual pain fron day to day, some annoyance of hair gets stuck in it, but mostly still struggling to sleep on that side is starting to really bother me. Don't know if I would do it again to be honest, although it looks fab.

Did it, didn’t hurt getting it done but could t sleep on it for a while. Looked hideous. Took it out!

Mine was done in a shitty piercing place that fucked up (pierced it with a smaller gauge needle then the earring was so it couldn’t heal as the earring kept rubbing the healing skin off) so it was a real mess for a while but when it was healed, it was absolutely fine.

I slept with my hand cupped around my ear if I slept on that side but it was absolutely fine 3 months after (and that inc the fuck up). I barely noticed it after that point and 3.5y on and I don’t even notice it’s there (other then seeing it obv!)

Had it done when I was 15 almost 27 years ago! Was painful to sleep on. You could rest head on something like a neck pillow with ear in the middle of it.

Mistletoadsandwhine · 07/03/2020 22:47

I had a second impulsive one done a couple of days ago. It doesn't hurt unless I touch it but I can't sleep on it which is annoying as I sleep on that side. Just read the tip about the neck pillow so going to give that a go. I was advised it would take 3 - 6 months before It's healed.

My DD had hers done a few years ago ( I found a proper piercer , sterile needle , sterile stud)

Pain was minimal ( my DD doesn't like needles) .
Healed nicely , got it changed for a titanium flat back ball stud .

It all went tits up when she was having her hair cut and the hairdresser managed to get the comb wedged between the stud and her ear Shock . My DD was so careful herself . This bloody hurt !

Cue massive pocket of pus . Did the salt water and let it settle but it really didn't .
She took it out , no scar , just a tiny bump .

Right ear was painful and a nightmare from day one. Left ear no problems at all, been able to sleep on it from day one.

Mine didn't hurt getting it done, but it tool ages before it wasn't sore. I had mine done a few days before Christmas and it's only just stopped hurting when touched. If anyway went to give me a hug and banged it it would be like starting the healing process again. The most annoying thing was not being able to sleep on it. Glad i had it done though. Looking forward to replacing it with a new one. The last in the shop said three months.
