Can you change a child / family x box account to an adult one ?

Calling all techno’s gaming geeks. We want to change my sons x box account to an adult one. Its currently a child / family one. He doesn’t want a new account as would lose progress and his games. Google isn’t helping.

No you can’t...or at least we couldn’t.

Ah ok thanks. Currently older son has main adult account and younger a subsidiary child account attached to it . They need to both be separate stand alone accounts as it’s causing issues but doesn’t seem possible.
