Waiting for a DBS is so frustrating

Gaaaahhhhh!

I am just waiting on a dbs to start my new role and its dragging on. It's making me anxious and now that I have finished my last job I have nothing to do but sit around and refresh the tracking page on the website.

Anyone have any positive stories about quick DBS turnaround to cheer me up?

I've it to take 3 months for someone who had no convictions etc. Just a routine job as a receptionist in a hospital as well!
It is very frustrating.

Not quite - it will be sent to the Police HQ for that particular force
Well I have an account with UCheck and that’s what I was told by them 🤷‍♀️

I have lived in the same county for the last 20 years, and the same house for 5.

I have only lived in one other county from birth to 16.

I cannot wait ages, so will try and call the police on monday if no joy. How will I know what police station is dealing with it for my area?

Ah okay I see, I need to contact police HQ.

IIRC, June to the end of October for my first volunteer one and December to April for the Enhanced Child Workforce one. The NHS Enhanced Adult Workforce one took so long that they withdrew a job offer after four months - the certificate came through two days later.

However, with the Child one, I was still able to start work because, as a new employee, I wasn't ever going to be left completely alone with children anyhow - receiving the certificate just meant that I could work alone which I didn't particularly want to do anyhow.

My most recent one took about 5 minutes, as it was all done online in front of me.

I'd have been bolloxed had anybody insisted on one prior to getting a passport, though, as I just didn't have enough of the documentation they insisted upon as ID. DP did some volunteering after we'd got his passport and driving licence specifically so he could get some form of clearance - his full one took about a fortnight after that.

Mine took 24 hours recently- waiting for it to arrive in the post now. I was the victim of a crime last year so wondér if that sped things up somehow? Northern police force.

TravellingSpoon · 07/03/2020 14:07

I wonder why it cant be sped up across the board. I have looked at some of the statistics online and unfortunately my force appears to be one of the slowest 😞

Spoke to my local police HQ and have been told that they cannot speed it up at all, and that they have a backlog so it will take as long as it will take.

Frustrating Sad

TravellingSpoon · 09/03/2020 16:58

It really is. I want to get to work as soon as possible.

What is more frustrating is that I have a portable DBS they wont accept.

Mine came through today! Five days, including a weekend. Got everything crossed for you, OP.

TravellingSpoon · 11/03/2020 18:04

I'm still waiting, but glad yours came through.

It's just moved to the printing stage. I am so happy, now just to wait for it to be printed and arrive in the post.
