Please can you cheer me up?

On paper everything is fine but I just feel fed up. Mainly because I've had a horrible virus for the last 3 weeks on top of chronic illness and feel really unwell with it. Weather isn't helping either.

It's nearly the weekend, spring is on its way etc. How can I cheer myself up? Can anyone help? 🙂

Sorry you're not feeling well OP!

Here's what helps me

  • reminding myself that this is temporary. I do struggle to convince myself of this when I am feeling low, but it's always temporary
  • deep breaths. Look up some techniques on YouTube, or just try box breathing (4 seconds in, 4 seconds hold, 4 seconds out, 4 seconds hold, repeat for a few minutes)
  • finding time for a bath, or bad TV, or even some hot chocolate. any little treat helps
  • focus on what you can do to help yourself. a long walk? rest? making a list of things that are stressing you out so that you can work on them?
  • you are not defined by your weight. If you've got the funds, buy some new nice clothes!

I hope you feel better soon

Thank you @sarahb083 those are great suggestions.

I'm contemplating nipping out for done vodka and tonic but I'll feel even worse tomorrow morning if I have a drink tonight.

Look up baby pandas on slides on YouTube. Never fails in our house. I'll join you in needing cheering up though, week of feeling ill and just had a minor op that's bruised and painful.

🐼😍 Great idea @crankysaurus! Hope you recover well. I'm a wimp with anything physically painful.

This won't solve your problems but it makes me smile every time.

Sometimes I exit DD's room by making little front paws, standing on tip toe and sort of falling out the door 😂

That cat has style!

Sure ways to cheer myself up:-
Find a (hopefully) sunny slot this weekend, wrap up and head for the nearest park, countryside to let nature work its magic, then (feeling smug) indulge in your favourite book/film with treats such as hot chocolate or wine Thanks

Thanks for the cat link 😻

Vodka and tonic is helping a little. I booked the fun swimming pool with slides for tomorrow and it'll be ghastly with a hangover so I won't have too much!

I have just had a wonderful massage. There's an app called Treatwell (I don't work for them) where you can get discounted treatments in your area.

Bluewavescrashing · 06/03/2020 18:47

Ooh I haven't had a massage for ages--years! What a lovely idea.
