Did anyone do Dry January?

Well....I did Dry February ('cos it was a slightly shorter month!) and I've been feeling fantastic so I've carried it on into March. However, I've got a couple of parties coming up where I'll probably drink 1 or 2 wines. Just a bit worried of the effect it might have on me! Am I worrying over nothing? Will I just feel the same as I used to after a couple of drinks? Thanks

You might get tipsier more quickly than before due to lowered alcohol tolerance but I still shouldn’t imagine one or two wines will have you rolling around incapable. Just drink more slowly and take a break between glasses if you’re worried.

As an aside, I did dry January and felt no better than usual. If anything, alcohol must do me good because I ran a personal best 1hr 24m half marathon at the end of February after I started drinking in earnest again.

I'd stopped drinking 1st Jan, and had two wines on Valentine's Day. Felt absolutely awful the next day, and didn't particularly enjoy the feeling at the time (got 'drunk' much quicker).

I'm back on the wagon now, going to be doing 3+ months.

Depends on how much you were drinking before you had a break, I was drinking every night before I quit so felt pretty shit most mornings due to crap sleep and constant hangovers.
Do you want a few drinks or do you feel you have to join in with boozing? I presume alcohol will have more clout if you've not had any for a good while.

We did (well most of January - up to 29th).

I felt better during the first week as we had overdone it a bit at the end of December. Then felt worse! I missed my wine a lot.....was very glad when 29th came along. We don't drink during the week unless we go out anyway, so maybe I wasn't drinking enough beforehand for it to make a difference.

You do produce less of the enzyme that is used to process alcohol when you're not drinking, so yes, you should moderate it a bit.

I did dry January. Then found out I’m pregnant in February. Feel like I wasted January now!

I don't drink much anyway, maybe get through 1 bottle of wine per week maximum. Thanks for the advice. I mostly did it to improve my sleep, and it's worked, so I really don't want my sleep to be affected if I start again.
