Been having arguments for the last few years with my family , which way is correct .

The 'correct' way is fork in left, prongs down, index finger on handle. Knife in right hand, held similar way.

However I don't see issue with holding them whichever way feels more natural. I use them this way, if eating with a knife and fork. If I'm eating something that doesn't require a knife (risotto for instance) I will use the fork in my right hand, prongs up. I don't care if this is 'correct' or not. I don't consider it impolite.

My children do my head in by not cutting up food though and chewing it off the fork, like roast potatoes etc.

My son cuts his food fork in left hand knife in right. (He is right handed.) He then puts down the knife. Swaps the fork from his left hand to his right. Puts the food in his mouth with the fork. Swaps the fork back to his left hand. Picks up the knife with his right. Cuts (or pushes to fork) a new piece of food. Puts down the knife....

For every f*cking mouthful!

I'm right handed and use my knife with my left hand, DP is left handed and uses his knife with the right hand.

I'm right handed and I use my fork in my right hand, knife in my left. My brother does it too. My dad is left handed so I figure we copied him.

Left.

I imagine the reason one uses the knife in 'the best coordinated' hand is due to moving the knife back and forth, whereas the fork hand is less vital for movement Grin.

Knives were out last time this was asked...

There isn’t a correct way...
