Please, I need all you're tips and remedies to get through this. 2.5yo DS has woken up with a huge amount this morning after having a few small spots for two days. Spots showed up on DD 9mo yesterday so I'm expecting to find Spotty Man in her room this morning.

Preparing to cut nails. What are the things I should and shouldn't be doing?

No ibuprofen, it will make it worse. Oat baths to soothe the skin and get hold of some poxclin mousse. We also used germolene for the ones inside the nappy. Calpol for high temperatures. Good luck!

I'm sure you're aware already but do not give them ibuprofen!!
Virasoothe cream is meant to be good. Oat baths.

Impatientwino · 06/03/2020 06:53

Virasoothe is great - slather it on.

Handful of Porridge oats in tight in a bath makes the water very soothing. DS has several a day. Also quite a good distraction!

Gin/chocolate/cake for you!

Virasoothe calpol antihistamine ice pops

Piriton for the itching. We used bicarbonate of soda in the bath.

HelloDulling · 06/03/2020 06:57

PoxClin is great. Piriton for the itch, Calpol for the fever, and lots of fluids. Expect to watch a lot of TV!

Thank you everyone. A few things added to the emergency shopping list. Hopefully the shelves have been restocked from all the panic buying!

Bastard chicken pox. I'm feeling itchy just looking at him :(

I used germoline on spots. Seemed to stop the itching much better than anything else I tried (and with 4dc I’ve tried a lot!).

Aqueous Calamine Cream (not the lotion) - I used tubes of the stuff. Plus oat baths.
