Cousin age gap

I was telling someone today that my cousin is 34 years older and they were very shocked. Can anyone beat that? Got a similarly shocking family age gap

Long family with a WW2 gap here. Another where DUncle was as close in age to DGM as to my DDad (who had younger siblings). 20+ year age gap from DSIS to the eldest (genuinely don’t know how old they are as they’d left home before we were born).

I found myself recently explaining that my DGP were all dead and when I got great sympathy had to explain that the youngest would have been 98 and the eldest 115. The lady I was chatting to (DC same age as mine) has them in their late 70s. Funny things, families.

My grandad was 21 years older than his youngest sibling - I am fairly sure there are some very extended cousin groupings thanks to that!

I don't know about age gaps but my dad has FORTY first cousins. Each has gone on to have at least two children as well Shock

41, and my youngest cousin is 20 years older than me. I'm younger than most of the children of my cousins.

I'm about to have a baby and their oldest cousin will be 44.

My partner is 22 years older than me and cousin is the child of partner's older brother.

I don't have any first cousins at all.
DM has some cousins who were like siblings to her (living in the same household) and others she has never met.

I have a friend who is one of two sisters married to two brothers. Their children are “double-cousins“ so genetically as close as siblings as they share both sets of grandparents.

This one makes my head hurt a little.

40 first cousins is small time Grin I've got about 75 (I've lost count)
Dad one of 14 kids, all of his siblings have between 3 & 6 children, lots of those children now have children of their own.
I have never been in a situation where all of my aunts, uncles & cousins are together at the same time.
Luckily my Mum is an only child

SundaySalon · 06/03/2020 10:25

My little sister is 23 years younger than me.
So as an auntie she is 4 months younger than her niece. Poor DC don’t have a clue what’s going on Grin.
My parents had me in their very early teens, my mum is only 45.

I've often wondered this if a set of identical twins married another set. Surely as ID twins are genetically identical, any children would be genetically siblings?

Double first cousins are only 25% related, so like half-siblings.

In my family, in early 19th century Ireland, brothers Hugh and John married sisters Ellen and Mary. Hugh and Ellen's son Alexander married Catherine, and John and Mary's son John married Catherine's sister Mary. Try untangling that!

My mother's cousin is about 18 years younger than me

In fact, my mother was 52 years old when her cousin was born.

Again, it may be interesting that my grandmother's cousin was only 2 years older than me, and we spent many years together in the same school. I tried not to let other children at school notice my family relationship with him because I was embarrassed. When he wanted to ask about my grandmother, he would tell me how my cousin was. Despite all this, I called him by name.
