For me, I often wonder why big organisations may or may not be looking at you NHS don't make sure there is sh#t hot fully trained leadership and managers in post to ensure thing run smoother in the downstream teams?

In private sectors, it appears that time and money is spent ensuring this?

What boggles your brain?

Whuan which before the coronavirus outbreak I'd never heard of. And has a population of 7 million and is a big city. Which got me thinking how many massive cities are there with millions of people living in it.

how that you are just one person in 7 billion just this like tiny dot.

Very old items. Not the fact they are still around, or anything to do with being rare or valuable, it can be anything from an old building, to an old toy to a view. It fascinates me that someone 100, 200, 1000 years ago would have stood where I am, with lives so far apart but the object or view is the same for us both.

surlycurly · 05/03/2020 21:22

Americans thinking that a woman can't run their country.

LargeGinOnTap · 05/03/2020 21:23

Longcoffee my dog has been watching it too hasn't thought of like that. In that case dogs watching vet programmes is like us watching doctors/ medical shows

AGnu · 05/03/2020 21:23

Another universe related one - which way is up? Is north "up" or have we got it the wrong way &, if you were looking from outside the universe, would south be "up", or east?! Is there even a right way up?! Confused

"Just how this Earth came to be, just what enabled the presence of the humans, animals etc after the Big Bang."
^^
This. I can't imagine the amazing-ness that is our planet, us and all the beautiful and strange forms of life here, when everywhere else is just rock, dust or gas. Truly blows my mind. And dinosaurs too.

pumpkinpie01 · 05/03/2020 21:35

I find birds migrating amazing some travel 16,000 miles , wow !

OneKeyAtATime · 05/03/2020 21:43

That people don't like phonetics ;)

Graymeansblack · 05/03/2020 22:05

@OneKeyAtATime now now! Don't hate it but it does boggle my brain

Thecurtainsofdestiny · 05/03/2020 22:06

That some people can have sex yet not talk about it.

Thecurtainsofdestiny · 05/03/2020 22:07

Also - chirality.

Tennisp · 05/03/2020 22:08

The universe and death for me too. Where/how does the universe end? How can a person be alive one minute and dead the next? What happens after death? Is there life after death? It's still a mystery.

Also how a single event or moment like getting a new job or meeting someone can take you off on an entirely new tangent in life. Sliding doors and all that etc.

The Internet. I can't imagine life without it now. At the same time I wish it didn't exist.

Nature and animals too. How is it that the earth is in the perfect position for life to form while no other planet is?

Will stop there. Could go on all day on this thread.

severalboxes · 05/03/2020 22:09

Telephones. You pick up an object and hear someone hundreds or even thousands of miles away.

KidCaneGoat · 05/03/2020 22:09

@AGnu I looked into this once. And maps did indeed used to be different ways. So north hasn’t always been at the top of the map.

tabulahrasa · 05/03/2020 22:15

How many things we all just pretend are real like all the time, really big things that don’t actually exist, except that we all pretend they do and act like they do... so then boom, there they are..time, money, countries...

LER83 · 05/03/2020 22:16

How things work, and how people came up with the idea. Like TV's, how can you just think of the idea and then actually get it to work. How do they work???! Crazy!

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 05/03/2020 22:23

@Thecurtainsofdestiny
I asked once why chirality (all molecules involved in biochemistry are left handed) existed, and it's entirely down to chance. In theory, we could travel to another planet, find indentical life, and be unable to eat it or vice versa if chirality was right handed.

DooDahhDing · 05/03/2020 22:27

Life,

I just dont get it, What is our purpose exactly, why are we even here? Animals help the whole system, if animals died out plants etc would soon follow and vice versa. But that wouldnt happen if humans died out...... so what is our purpose?

goose1964 · 05/03/2020 22:29

The fact the universe is expanding but there's nothing for it to expand into.

FlamingoAndJohn · 05/03/2020 22:30

Baby on board signs are for the emergency services. If there is a significant crash, they know to look for a baby who may be still trapped in or thrown from the vehicle.

Which is why everyone makes sure they take them out if the baby isn’t on board. Oh, wait...

TheSevenDials · 05/03/2020 22:34

The Universe for me too.

Eastie77 · 05/03/2020 22:42

A baby is born and within minutes instinctively knows how to find her mothers breast and feed. I found it a bit mind boggling with both my DC!

popgoesperfection · 05/03/2020 22:43

How earth can hold so many people, how some people believe the earth is flat, how? Where is the end then? How come no one has been driving and suddenly fallen off the earth because they've got to the edge ?? Also, how did people build big structures, like the Eiffel Tower? How an earth did they get up there!! And piers/bridges over water, how did they build in the sea!!!

TheCatsBlanket · 05/03/2020 22:46

When we fall asleep, we deliberately make ourselves unconcious and don't even know it's happened until we wake several hours later....my mind boggles at the thought of it

SeaViewBliss · 05/03/2020 22:51

Photographs. I just can’t make myself understand how they happen IYSWIM Blush
