Anyone else reading this? I'm only on chapter one and it's making me so angry

Yes! Reading it with my book group and just found out she's doing a short soeaking tour so we're all going to support the cause!
It’s nicely written isn't it. There are moments of humour but you're right it feels SO unfair! Going to buy it for my nieces/nephews and for the school I'm governor at.

I read it over Christmas, an amazing book. I keep telling people stories about it (the one about snow ploughing was one of my favourites - you may not have got to it yet).

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 05/03/2020 18:17

Mine has just been delivered...will start it soon

Looking forward to it but ive heard it might not be good for my blood pressure

afrikat · 05/03/2020 22:09

Just reading the snow ploughing bit. It's just insidious!

Thanks for the tour tip, off for a google

We're going to Monmouth. It's about an hour from Cheltenham (totally outs self). Quaint little town.

Dammit

She is in a city which is easier for me to get to on monday...its a bit short notice and the ticket price includes a copy of the book which ive just bought

Might see if the one person i know who is reading it wants to go to keep me company

afrikat · 06/03/2020 10:28

I'm not going to make it to any of the talks but be great to hear back from anyone who manages to go

I keep putting the book down to rant at my DH about how unbelievable the whole thing is (thankfully he agrees with me)

Yes! The bit about children being taught bias around the age of four (bias that lasts a lifetime) has really stuck with me. It's a problem we need to undo now, but that's not going to happen. That coupled with the news that 9/10 people are biases against women and it all feels a bit hopeless.

BinkySodPlop · 06/03/2020 13:44

Ooo - thanks for the heads-up. I grew up in Monmouth, and still have family there, so trying to get tickets with friends as I type! Glad that their MP has been so openly GC, and hopefully there will be no disruptions.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 06/03/2020 14:32

I think southampton is out of tickets 😩

I've found a great Podcast called A Podcast of Ones Own, one of the episodes is an interview with the author of Invisible Women. Worth a listen
