Anyone else got this hideous achey coughing virus?? And no it's not coronavirus! It's been a week now. I've soldered on but today am in bed truly miserable. My daughter has it too. Cheer me up with funny anecdotes Smile

How do you know it’s not corona? Hmm

Strongmummy · 05/03/2020 10:07

Errrrrrrrrm.....Corona virus ?

picklebarrelfalls · 05/03/2020 10:10

FFS, not every cough and temperature that the world is suffering right now is CV.

TreesSandSea · 05/03/2020 10:10

What an odd thread

Ethelswith · 05/03/2020 10:11

DS had this a couple of weeks ago.

I did wonder if it was COVID (at university, and the timings wouid fit with international students bringing back after Xmas break. But I don't think there's enough lab effort available to test those who have been ill but are now recovered, even though it could give further useful info on how far it was spreading.

DesLynamsMoustache · 05/03/2020 10:14

I've had some sort of lingering bug for about a month now, it's driving me nuts. It's definitely been doing the rounds in our local circle for a while (not Coronavirus Grin). All you're going to get here are panicked people suggesting you have it, though, so prepare!

Ellapaella · 05/03/2020 10:15

There was a really nasty cough/ fever virus going around in January/February. Loads of my work colleagues had it, the cough went on for weeks afterwards. Load of people were off sick. We all wondered at the to me how anyone would know if it was Coronavirus but at that time it wasn't really something we were that concerned about here.

gallgal · 05/03/2020 10:16

DS and I had that, lasted about ten days. Not like a normal cold because there was less snot but lots of coughing and ringy ears.

Tbh it could have been Corona. Who knows?

Ellapaella · 05/03/2020 10:16

So I suspect that virus is still going round and lots of people will now think they have Coronavirus!

WeCameToDance · 05/03/2020 10:22

Yes op! I have it and it’s not corona virus before anyone starts Hmm but it is horrible and lingering. It’s been a fortnight now and the I’m still coughing my lungs up on the regular. Fed up now.

froggers1 · 05/03/2020 10:22

I'm pretty confident it's not Coronavirus as I didnt get a high temp and that's how it starts...

hazeyjane · 05/03/2020 10:27

Ds (9) has had a horrible virus and been off since last Thurs...and he still has a bloody temperature today!
Earache
Headache
Sticky eyes
Awful cough
Temperature
Pale, tired, floppy

Fucking bored now.

gamerchick · 05/03/2020 10:29

Yep last week. It lasted a week then buggered off. Weird bug it was.

Husband still has the cough but he's a smoker so that's usual.

Strongmummy · 05/03/2020 11:35

@froggers1 no, some people don’t have a temperature. Some people are asymptomatic. Not sure what the point of your thread is. You’re Ill, it’s lingering ....and?

Geepipe · 05/03/2020 11:38

strongmummy jesus harsh much? The point of her threat is her and dd are ill with a nasty sounding virus and she wants to chat. Not hard to understand. Hmm

Geepipe · 05/03/2020 11:38

*thread not threat

Strongmummy · 05/03/2020 11:39

Maybe I just don’t get why people who want to chat don’t interact with people in real life ....not randoms on Mumsnet

Strongmummy · 05/03/2020 11:41

Plus everyone is on high alert for Corona. I’m not bothered about it really and am resigned to the fact that I’ll probably get it, but against that back drop why is it sensible to post here?

Loyaultemelie · 05/03/2020 11:47

Dh has had it since last wed started with a sore throat then the cough and oddly sore gums, dd2 since sat although this morning she's a bit snotty too (dh not been at all) and I have that tickly feeling this morning in my chest too. Lots of people we know seem to have it

Teacup34 · 05/03/2020 11:49

Bit rude strong mummy why are you posting on here and not interacting with people in real life? I'm glad op did post here as my dd3 has had a weird virus and I was wondering if it was going around she's had same symptoms as op. Get well soon Frogger's.

hazeyjane · 05/03/2020 11:52

Maybe because we're stuck in with virusy sick kids/feeling shit, and obviously there is an undercurrent of panic...'hmm, long, odd virus...coronavirus in the news...might be nice to know that there are others out there with a virus feeling a bit worried and shit like me'....you know, that kind of thing!

WeCameToDance · 05/03/2020 13:58

Well actually mine did start with a weird fever and chills, promptly moved onto a cough and (drumroll please..) a cough every time I tried to breath in too deeply.
I still highly doubt it’s corona virus although I do live in a town with confirmed cases. I hope for Tesco’s sake it isn’t as I spent an hour coughing my lungs up while doing my food shopping yesterday.
*lighthearted, I really really really don’t believe I have corona virus, just some lingering seasonal thing.
