I'm not great at crafting and stuff. I'm not very creative or good at any fiddly things. But when DS wanted to be the Mouse King from the Nutcracker I tried my best. Adapted a jumpsuit I found in a charity shop with braid and buttons from a fabric shop. Made a crown with cardboard and foil.

I'm actually pretty pleased with the result. Picture of the copy of the book he has included for comparison.

And then it turns out that this year his nursery are not bloody doing WBD. It's a normal day in branded polo shirts.

Pissed right off! They did it last year so I just assumed. Had DD all set up too. She owns red dungarees and a white top and we have a green colander so she was all set to be the bear from Whatever Next.

Got a proper DM sad face on.

Brilliant costume!

That costume is fantastic!

It’s a shame the school didn’t give lots of notice of their plans though. I’ll bet there’s plenty of other parents who’ve gone and sorted out costumes specially.

To be fair they are usually very good about reminders for upcoming events so I should have assumed no mention of it meant nothing happening.

Ah well, we are visiting a castle on Saturday so I hope he'll want to wear at least a bit then
