DD is really enjoying economics and textiles (psychology not quite as much) and has to sort work experience for early summer. Any suggestions as to areas she should look at please? She's a real people person with good use of initiative etc.

I did my work experience in the buying department of m and s. It was amazing.
The glam side was pretty brilliant but also the economics of fashion.

Thanks KatyN, that's a great idea.

Does the National Trust have anything in conservation of textiles locally?

Theatres (producing houses that put on their own shows) in the costume department (although getting placements at my local theatre is very competitive.)

I doubt they do work experience weeks in the buying dept of M&S to be honest.
My dd did A levels in textiles and business...she did her work experience at a local wedding dress design studio, she loved it.

@KatyN apologies I didn't read that properly before I posted! Was that your school work experience or placement whilst at uni?

KatyN · 05/03/2020 06:53

Mine was at gsce. Apparently it was unusual for that young, but I never knew who got me in! I owe them a packet of Percy pigs if mother else!!
They had uni placements there at the same time.
