What tiny fly is this please?

Very small. About the same size as a drain fly but it clearly isn’t a drain fly looking at the shape of its wings...?

Not sure.

Did you know though, that fruit flies like a banana and time flies like an arrow?

Looks like a fruit fly. We had an invasion of them a few years back when a melon on the kitchen worktop started to go off.

Well, I'm really at a loss now!

There is absolutely no fresh food or anything in the kitchen that could have gone off - everything is tins and dry packets. I don't see how it's a fruit fly.

At the same time, I have put plugs in the kitchen and bathroom sinks (and taped over the kitchen sink overflow and yet they are still arriving in their tens. So it can't be a drain fly.

I have no idea what else it could be?!
