We were told this afternoon that there’s a new grandchild on the way - in November! I’m not sure I’d be spreading the news as soon as this, lovely as it is.

It's up to the couple announcing it

Sunshine1235 · 02/03/2020 19:02

Are they ‘spreading the news’ Or just telling their parents? I told my parents in the early days, I think that a quite common

Alsohuman · 02/03/2020 19:02

Yes obviously. That wasn’t I was asking.

Thanks Sunshine, not sure who they’re telling. I just remember us hugging it to ourselves as a delicious secret for several weeks and not telling anyone. I can’t remember how soon they told us the first time.

Their choice.
I always say, if anything goes wrong the more people who know, the more people can support the parents.

yatapina · 02/03/2020 19:06

No.

Things go wrong whether you've told people or not so it's really up to them.

I told my parents before I told my DH 🤣

FemiLANGul · 02/03/2020 19:08

Why shouldn't they tell people?

RedRed9 · 02/03/2020 19:09

Is this your child? You don’t sound very supportive.

SospanFrangipan · 02/03/2020 19:09

I told my parents the day after I found out, at 4 weeks. I did this because if anything went wrong, I would want their support. It's entirely personal preference.

WildflowerChild · 02/03/2020 19:11

Delicious secret? Confused

Selfsettling3 · 02/03/2020 19:12

I presume they are telling you but if the pregnancy did end in a miscarriage then they would want your support.

Alsohuman · 02/03/2020 19:16

I’m not entirely sure how you deduce that @RedRed9, given that I said it’s lovely news, or exactly what I could do or say to be supportive at this stage.

OP posts:
RedRed9 · 02/03/2020 19:19

Because you’re on a public forum calling them out for telling their own parents that they’re pregnant.

RedWine123 · 02/03/2020 19:32

I think it’s fine
