Has anyone else been struck down with the lurgy?!

Because it's the worst I've felt for a long time and I'm fed up!

Started out as shivers and the worst sore throat you can imagine, then 2 days later I got a heavy cold on top of it. Then a horrible cough, and today I woke up and puked a few times! I've been in bed with stomach cramps since.

I have a 1 year old who mercifully hasn't caught it but I genuinely feel awful and wondering if coronavirus would be much worse...

Anyone else?!

Yes, I started with it on Friday. I haven't felt this I'll with a cold/virus for years. I rang in sick to work today which I never do. The cough is horrendous.

NeverGotMyPuppy · 02/03/2020 18:46

Yes DH has come back from work literally today with it.

Hoik · 02/03/2020 18:49

DH spent Sunday with a bunged up nose, sore throat, and cough. I woke up this morning with it. He's in my bad books.

I feel like my nose is blocked/runny but it's not actually blocked or runny, just has that stuffy feeling without any of the stuffiness. Sneezing lots. Throat feels raw. Just waiting for the cough to arrive now. To make it worse, DD and DS1 have both come home from school with the sneezes so they're probably brewing it and the toddler has a snotty nose.

I caught something last week. Have not felt so unwell in 20years. The pain in my throat and chest was agonising.

dancemom · 02/03/2020 18:53

I thought I was just hungover but today is the third day, I've got on and off nausea, muscular aches and alternating fever/chills, it's rotten!

Toomanyapplesinthefruitbowl · 02/03/2020 19:04

If you’re feeling that unwell have you considered getting tested for Covid-19? While you might recover and be fine, it could be important to diagnose it for the vulnerable around you

Primrose89 · 02/03/2020 19:12

I dont have a fever though so I very much doubt its COVID-19.

I think its potentially an adenovirus. I've had pretty much every symptom including a sticky eye!

I had a hell of a cold last week. I don’t think it was flu as I didn’t have a fever but it really knocked me for six, I couldn’t get out of bed and just had to sleep it off.

Hoik · 02/03/2020 20:11

None of us have a fever so I'm guessing it's a Spring cold.

Rosecatter · 02/03/2020 20:21

It's made me depressed too, which isn't like me. I'm on the verge of tears all the time

Primrose89 · 02/03/2020 20:29

For me it's been like a mixture of tonsillitis, d&v and a very heavy cold/chest infection. I've honestly never had anything like it!

Same here last week. Warm but no fever. Losing the cold now but getting the cough. Time off at work is very much discouraged so I can think of at least three other people that now have it.

Spudlet · 02/03/2020 20:33

We’ve basically been ill since mid-January. Started off with a stomach bug which DS brought home and shared, then cold after cold - the last one was a bugger, and we all got that too. DH and I are still coughing weeks later.

Then DS got ill again, and after taking him to the emergency GP on Saturday when he got a rash, it turns out he has scarlet fever! Thankfully his antibiotics are giving it a clobbering and he’s on the mend, but bejaysus, I have had enough now, thank you.

So I feel your pain op and offer you a Kleenex or Solidarity, and perhaps a Strepsil?

Primrose89 · 02/03/2020 20:38

Oh @Spudlet that sounds horrendous! Hope your DS feels better soon.

On another note about strepsils... I fell asleep with a strepsil in my cheek last night and it has taken the skin off Shock didn't even know that was possible!

Spudlet · 02/03/2020 20:42

Omg, I didn’t know they could do that! Ouch! Shock That’s all you need when you already feel grim Confused

ADealingMummy · 02/03/2020 20:44

It’s horrible - chills, bit of a fever, headache, aching all over, followed by a hacking cough. Now it’s an upset tummy and sickness.
All of us are getting over it.
