Hi, does anyone have any advice or opinion on the best maternity facilities within a reasonable radius of Beaconsfield? Thanks.

Private or NHS?

Initially off the top of my head thinking Wexham Park or High Wycombe but privately Portland isn’t far by car.

Am pretty sure someone much more knowledgeable will come along shortly!

There must be more info via the usual route?

Thanks for your input Hipstermo. It would be NHS. It's my DD who's pregnant. She's new to the area and just discovered she's expecting. When she went to see the GP they asked where she would like to be registered for the birth. She has no idea where, and they said to let them know, so I thought someone on MN is bound to have some personal experience. This place is a mine of information!

Wycombe birth centre has just been redone and is launching their continuity of care service which means (hopefully) same midwife throughout. If however she needs to be transferred in an emergency it would be an ambulance ride to stoke mandeville.
Wexham is also very doable from Beaconsfield, can't comment on maternity services as my experience of it was an emergency admittance for me baby at 6 months but they were lovely. Bear in mind though that Wexham is a different county which shouldn't be too much of a hassle but care would need to be transferred between hospital and community staff
I birthed in stoke Mandeville (I live in Wycombe and had an elcs) and the only thing I really wanted was private rooms as standard which I got with my first baby in Kent (NHS) but no hospitals round here have that unless you pay. Stoke was lovely for my birth but I was glad to leave the postnatal ward!
There are frequently tours or virtual tours online which would be worth checking out so she can get a feel of each place

Yep, Wycombe is the closest to Beaconsfield.
