I’m being thick but I just want to make sure I’m thinking straight here because I’m very tired Blush

DS has been generally unwell since Wednesday, developed a rash yesterday, so I called 111, went to the out of hours GP, and he’s been diagnosed with scarlet fever (Shock). He has antibiotics and antihistamines for the rash.

The antibiotics have to be taken 4 times a day at ‘regular intervals’, on an empty stomach, which according to the instructions means 1 hour before food or 2 hours after food. I think it’s the ‘or’ that’s scrambling my tired brain a bit here...

So my proposed schedule is as follows:
6.30 - dose one
7.30 - breakfast
10.00 - dose two
11.00 - snack
12.00 - lunch
2.00 - dose three
5.00 - dinner
7.00 - dose 4 and bed

He’ll probably have a bit of banana or something as an afternoon snack in there too, but only if he says he’s hungry.

Does that look right? I can’t think how to space the doses out better while also feeding DS, keeping each dose on an empty stomach, and not getting him up or putting him to bed too early / late...

We have had one illness after another since Christmas and I haven’t had a full night’s sleep since mid-January so if this seems really simple - please be kind, I am a very tired womanBlush

I'm a paediatric nurse. We never bother with the empty stomach thing. Otherwise it's so difficult to get all the doses in. Leave it a minimum of four hours between doses. And have some chocolate buttons on standby as it's absolutely vile stuff.

Oh! That makes life a lot easier I must say Grin

Yes, it must taste dreadful as DS was complaining, bless him. Will make sure he gets a nice treat after he’s taken it as he’s been so good, he’s only 4.

Thank you Smile

That looks fine. The instructions should maybe say ‘and’ instead of ‘or’

Yes that’s what I thought - honestly I’m not normally dim but this did confuse me ConfusedBlush
