Listening to the news and the talk of what emergency plans could be put in place.

One suggestion was to legislate to "allow" teachers to teach much larger classes if other staff are off ill. I don't think so. Maybe ask the teachers if they are willing.

There are some school where it would be a total nightmare.

If staff have the virus the sensible thing to do is to close the school.

One of DS's teachers is currently stuck in Tenerife, she is emailing them work. DS is not impressed!

I'm assuming if it becomes more widespread many pupils will be off too

“ I'm assuming if it becomes more widespread many pupils will be off too”

So, in other words, this proposal still won’t happen

So there will be so many people I'll at once there won't be enough supply teachers or TAs to cover classes? I'd presume a class would be split so there would be two classes of 45 ish. Still a nightmare in a primary.

I'm more worried about Alevel and GCSE pupils missing lessons because the class is being covered but not taught.

Thanks for the responses.

My thoughts are that primaries should not go above 30 or so and should shut if that's how it will be. Or have part time schooling, alternate days in, if there are enough healthy teachers in.

Secondary has to prioritise those taking external exams, even if only on line.

It's unfortunate for working parents but safety has to come first.

Seems we're in the clear now - panic over.

It must be, since Boris feels comfortable playing politics again.

Number 10 tells Sadiq Khan he is not invited to emergency coronavirus meeting
