I will have to take my son (Y3) out of school for two days.
Both DH and I will be traveling for work. We have no family or childcare options available, so we thought I could take DS with me since my family and friends live in the city I am going.

I am aware it sounds odd, so I was not sure how to explain it in the form. What would you say?

(ps - just to say that DS is doing absolutely fine and above expectations at school, in case someone brings that up)

I doubt it will be authorised so to be honest you could put whatever you want on the form. Probably won't be fined for 2 days but I expect the local authority reserves the right to do so. I believe it's £60 per parent, per child.

I would write what you'd put above..."travelling for work and no childcare locally, DS staying with family in x town"

Oh, I never thought it could not be authorised...!
