Cramping in pregnancy

Recently I found out I'm a few weeks pregnant. I've been feeling really sick and dizzy for just over a week, and the past few days I have had period like cramping, it's quite strong and it's constant, nothing I do is settling it...I haven't tried painkillers I didn't know if it's safe to or not. But has any one experienced this? When I Google it, it says you get a small amount of cramping then it goes.. thank you in advance

Yes. I have had 5 pregnancies, one of which ended in miscarriage at 6 weeks.

A certain amount of cramping is normal as things stretch and hormonal changes.

Take it easy and rest when you can.

Not wanting to alarm you at all, but with my miscarriage I had period type cramps which gradually turned to bleeding.

But I also remember mild cramps with my successful pregnancies too.

Do not take ibuprofen when pregnant! But paracetamol is safe.

Hot water bottle or a nice warm shower are good for cramps too.

Also, forgot to say there is a Pregnancy section in Mumsnet. It's in the 'Becoming a Parent' section of Talk.

Thank you StillCounting123
Do you mind me asking how long was it between you getting the cramps to start bleeding?

I am slightly worried because today is the worst it has been, was making me feel a bit shaky so took some paracetamol which did help ease the pain but I don't want to keep taking them.
