Travel insurance- can anybody recommend a provider that covers cancellation due to fco?

I’ve been going through policy wordings for hours and can’t seem to find a policy that covers cancellation if the FCO advice changes to only essential travel. Can anyone help?

Ring them up and ask?

I couldn't find any that said the all but essential ones, and any likely ones I did find also stated that any condition in place at the time of booking that you would reasonably think would affect you, rendered it void anyway.

If you travel against advice, no insurance will cover you.

If advice changes while you are there, you will be covered as usual

If the advice changes before you go and the tour operator is unable to run the trip, they are obliged to refund you.

If you've booked hotel and flights independently it will be dependent on the T&C of the booking.

I've just spoken to Cover For You -their standard policy doesn't cover this but if you add on Travel Disruption it does. I'm sure others might have similar options

We had to buy travel insurance yesterday, and were also told that it is trip disruption you need, which is generally an add on.

Who did you go with @Ilovefluffysheep ? I'm still shopping around

A company called Cedar tree. We both have a lot of pre existing medical conditions so it was the best value I could find.

Barclays Travel Pack insurance covers FCO cancellation. May be an option if you bank with them I just needed to check my policy for this reason.

We've got cover for that, but the policy is linked to our bank account with Nationwide, so not sure if it would help you unless you switched accounts.
