As an email sign off this seems to have become more and more popular and I absolutely cannot stand it.

I prefer best to kind regards

Nothing wrong with 'best' at all. It's a slightly more casual sign off than best regards, usually used with someone you deal with regularly.

it''s a standard sign off in the industry I work in (finance).
