What is this? Photo included!

Hi all!

This came loose with some equipment I received as part of DSA for uni, but I can’t figure out what on Earth it is or what it does?

It was loose in a box with a little microphone and a Dictaphone but I can’t see how it connects to either and is of a different brand name to those things. I’m so puzzled.

Should also point out it’s rubbery on the bottom - thought it was a magnet at first but it doesn’t stick to the fridge so I think it’s just there for grip.

The knobby thing at the top is exactly that - a Sticky-out knob thing 😂😂

Is it a portable loop? Are deaf/hoh?

I’m autistic with auditory processing issues, so it could well be something for that.

That’s also the reason I don’t like phone calls but keep being goady, @toomanygerbils 🙄

Can’t find it on the website, @sashh! That being said I’m inclined to think you may be right now as the site sells things for Deaf/HOH people.

If it is a loop system then the OP might not be able to use a standard phone, and how would you describe that in text?

Have a look at the website linked, it's a sort of loop system, probably for use with video / TV.

I took a closer look, seems most portable loop systems have somewhere for a wire to go into?

I can use a regular phone, but the mixture of ASD/auditory processing issues mean it’s an absolute godsend when “live chat” is an option on the customer service page!

Ah, I know what it is, well I think iI know, do you have that thing where you cannot pic out a conversation from background noise?

It might be to help with that, the little bump will be an antenna to broadcast.

Ignore the wires in the background - this is the Dictaphone, and the loop came with these clip things as well but I don’t know how you connect them.

I’ll give that a go and see if they can help!
