Moving to Scotland

Hi.
Not sure what I think I'll gain from posting this but maybe just writing it all down will help my brain.
So me and my family (husband 3 daughters and dog) are in the process of moving to Scotland.
The plan was, sell our house in Northampton, rent in Ayrshire then buy up there when we know the area better.
So the house went on the market last year,we accepted an offer on Oct 31st,the buyers initially were very keen even saying they wanted to move in before Xmas. Obviously that was unrealistic but we thought by Jan we'd be on our way. Well now everything seems to be going wrong. The buyers suddenly wanted another survey. This was not a massive issue because there is nothing wrong with the house but it was annoying that they decided this so late in the process. Anyway survey done the only thing they could pick fault with was the condensate pipe from the boiler was damaged (this took weeks from the survey to come back to us). So had the pipe repaired. Another week or so passes and apparently a repair isn't good enough and they want a new pipe. The pipe is 100% repaired, water tight ect and is actually only 3 years old anyway from when we had new heating put in. Is it just us that thinks this is such a petty thing to hold the sale up over. My solicitor isn't happy either she said she's finding the buyers side to be quite inconsiderate and rude because they are not getting back to her at all even though they know we need to make plans (schools, housing ect). we had been told by our solicitor that was should have exchanged mid Feb and completed this weekend coming. So I handed in my notice at work,we booked a van to move,I spent my daughter's 16th birthday ,during the storms driving up to Scotland to view a rental house because I thought it was all imminent.
So that's the issue with our house the other major issue is obviously no letting agents will let us rent a house without viewing it but they only tend to do block viewings and they are always mid week.its at least a 7bhiir drive one way,I can't just do that every week, let alone afford it.
We've out in an application for the house I viewed the other week but that was over a week ago and we've not heard anything.
I'm so fed up with all of this now, I now have a stress related issue with my eye which means my sight is affected and I can't really drive at night because of the glare from lights. I'm out of work now as of Friday,I know I would have been anyway if we had moved this weekend but we would have the money from our house sale to tide us over untill we are working again up there.
I feel like it's all too much but there's no way out,if I just take the house off the market and forget it all completely I'll still have to pay all the fee's. Time is really of the essence now too because if my daughter's exams. If everything had gone to plan we could have her settled in a school in time but now it seems impossible.
Sorry that was so long.

I'm sorry you're going through this. I have no practical advice but I can say that Scotland is a very nice place to live and Ayrshire has everything you could need. I live in Glasgow which isn't far away.

I think you need to put more of these woes back on your solicitor and let her handle the strain, its what you are paying her for after all.
In regards to your daughter, I wouldn't worry too much there. Kids often handle things far better than we adults do. She is still in school and learning currently, and will pick up school work once you move. A bit of an adjustment period sure, but it wont derail her education or exams.

These things, when all piled on top of each other feel overwhelming and impossible to navigate. Break it down to individual issues, tackle each one individually and you will be through the other side before you know it. Best of luck Flowers
