Sorry for your loss.

There is a long wait for cremations - population has gone up considerably but no new facilities built so basically there is a queue. For burials, there should be less of a wait but it does depend on funeral director availability.

Burials are usually quicker than cremation.

It all depends on how quickly the death certificate is issued (took 4 days from hospital when FIL died) and then we had to wait another 5 days to get an appointment with the registrar to register the death. Nothing happened very quickly. Then we had to wait for the funeral director to arrange a crematorium slot. It took nearly 4 weeks for a cremation.

Anything between a few days and a month. Usually several weeks at least in winter months and for cremations. Also depends on any religious practices.

I wonder if it takes longer in England than up here in Scotland? When my nana died she was buried a few days later which is pretty standard. Family from down south we're really surprised it was happening so soon.
