Bleeding two weeks after last period end?

Reposting here because I’m worried and really hoping for replies!

I’m bleeding two weeks after my last period ended. It seems really soon for my next one? Am I meant to assume this is an extra surprise period? Or should I be concerned, treat it as any other type of random bleeding, and get seen ASAP? It's out of the ordinary for me personally (usually 4-5 weeks between the end of one and start of the next). It's definitely not pregnancy related (unless I'm the next Virgin Mary) and I don't take the pill or anything.

Any advice would be much appreciated thank you!

I had this and it turned out to be a polyp, which had to be removed via surgery. It was completely harmless though.

Go and see your GP.

I also had this last month, doctor said it’s common but best to get it checked.

I’ve had blood tests and an ultrasound scan so I’ll let you know what it was when I get my results next week.

Are you up to date with your smear tests?

DoloresStormborn · 25/02/2020 19:51

Thank you for the replies! I’ve made the mistake of googling polyps and scared myself now oops! I’ll definitely go and see my GP and not ignore it as an extra period.

I’m all up to date with my smear tests but my last one was a while back now (a year and a half or so) so not sure how up to date that is in terms of potential changes since then :(

If you don’t mind me asking, did either of you have much pain with the extra bleeding?

I had period like pains and lower abdominal pain - it’s hard to describe really.

If your smears are up to date try not to worry too much but best to have a word with your doctor x
