Is there an iPad setting to avoid ads for older age rated apps?

(Please answer in words of one syllable or less and type slowly.)

If dc are playing on an app that’s rated 4+ is there a way to block ads that are 12+

I had assumed that the ads for other apps would match the rating for the game and frankly I’m a bit shocked to see what’s being advertised.

Am I missing a setting somewhere?

Samsung Smile

Does this not happen on Samsung?
The sales pitch I fell for was that iPads had so many settings that you could lock them down for kids Angry

Is there not a paid-for version of the game? Usually those don't have ads.

Also, is the iPad also used by adults?

@PolPotNoodle Some of the games have the option of paying for no ads, but increasingly this is a subscription rather than a once off payment.

I don’t really mind the ads as long as they are age appropriate. And I don’t mind paying to block ads on the games that the dc play frequently. But I strenuously object to having to pay to avoid a child seeing violent and sexualised images; it feels like blackmail.

I played Word Collect which is 4+ and an anagram based game, so you might even consider it educational. One of the ads that came up was an assassin/sniper game rated 18+. You can’t even click/swipe out of it. You have to wait a few seconds for an x to appear in one corner, then a few more seconds for an x in the opposite corner.

The iPad is only used by dc, and I’ve managed to work out how to block websites, set it for age appropriate apps etc (a minor miracle because I’m truly useless at tech stuff). I was really hoping that I’d just missed an obvious setting.
