How would you feel?

How would you feel if you were a parent and found out your mother was pregnant / wanted a baby? Example being mid 20s with children who are already school age...

I'd be slightly horrified to be honest! I would try to hide my feelings and congratulate her.

ConsiderTheCentre · 24/02/2020 20:51

I’d feel she was selfish.

Idontkowmyname · 24/02/2020 20:54

Under 50 I’d have no issues. She’s a grown adult and her parenting days should not be forced to end because it makes others uncomfortable.
Sorry if you are in this situation and it’s not merely a hypothetical scenario and you’re struggling to get your head around it

Depends on her age surely? I think it's her life and in all honesty you don't have a say in it Confused.
My friend had a baby at 16 when he child is 20 friend will be 36... so depends on age.

I’d be wondering why you felt your status as a “parent” had any bearing on your mother’s desire/capacity to have a child.

PurpleDaisies · 24/02/2020 20:59

It’s her and her partner’s choice.

I loved it when it happened in Father of the Bride 2. Always thought it would be cool!

I know someone with a grandchild born a few months before their youngest dc. I don't see why it's any different to someone being an older mum to a first child.
