On the train today and there was a teenage couple, a couple my age (30s) and myself.
Teenage boy says to girl, you're so bangable, girl makes a face and says bangable? Boy says yea it's a compliment its just a slang way to say pretty, everyone says you have a bangable face.
Anyway they get off the train and the woman from the other couple smirks and says to her oh, so do you think I'm banagable then? (Obvisouly lightheartedly) he says of course, she says do you think other people think I have a banagable face? (Still clearly just taking the mick out of what the teenagers were saying) he pauses and stares at her for about 5 seconds and says well your body is bangable and she looks annoyed and the conversation ends, shes silent for the rest of the trip clearly annoyed and he just says well how am I meant to know what other people think?
I thought this was so nasty of him she was clearly just having a laugh but he should've just said yes. FWIW she was actually very pretty.

It doesn’t matter how the teen explained it, bangable obviously has connotations of “fuckable” so it’s not synonymous with pretty. So it’s not the same as replacing it with the word pretty in your example.

I think the dh is right - how would he know what other people think ? He's already told her what he thinks. People who continue to press and seek compliments are going to run up against people who won't play their game in the end. It is pretty sad that she felt the need to keep pressing, IMO.
