Property porn:

Look at this house; great for when we win the lottery

I used to live in the next door village, ten mins walk. Wonersh is a beautiful proper village (not typical Surrey) and but I agree £4m is a lot.

MunaZaldrizoti · 24/02/2020 22:27

It's a bit much

dustibooks · 24/02/2020 22:32

I'd definitely get rid of that lake!

Ok... er... how??

pictish · 24/02/2020 22:34

I’d rattle around like a pea in a drum in a house like that. It would require staff, constant maintenance, expense upon expense. I’d feel completely out of my depth. Would make a nice, upmarket boutique hotel though.

katy1213 · 24/02/2020 22:36

As long as they don't leave any of their furniture behind - truly awful taste!
Did cross my mind whether that pond would have rats!

katy1213 · 24/02/2020 22:38

@hollyhead Much nicer - especially once we've stripped those feature walls.

ChristmasCarcass · 24/02/2020 22:40

Pond is nice enough, but probably a total mare to maintain.

Swimming pool will be fucking freezing for 90% of the year. And will burn money. House itself is chintzy and ceilings are claustrophobic. From the floorplan, the bedrooms are pretty titchy and the downstairs seems to be divided up into a million little rooms (study, family room, etc etc) which feels poky - I’d much prefer something a bit more open plan.

I’m glad somebody likes it, but even if I won the lottery I wouldn’t buy it - it wouldn’t suit me. If money was no object, I’d have a Georgian townhouse in Bath. High ceilings, airy, lots of space.

Redglitter · 24/02/2020 22:42

Why cant I see it. When I click on the link it shows a feature about 5 art deco houses

ChristmasCarcass · 24/02/2020 22:43

On preview, I want Hollyhead’s house. Love Cheltenham too, much nicer than Surrey.

FecktheBoss · 24/02/2020 22:45

Perfect! DH loves fishing, him and DCs can have the boat house/shed and I'll have the house.

halulat · 24/02/2020 22:48

Pretty but wrong location for me. Love my city too much to leave.

ElGuardiandenoche · 24/02/2020 23:56

This one has an indoor swimming pool, is a short walk from the beach and has history.

PickAChew · 24/02/2020 23:59

It's pretty but I hate the low, beamed ceilings and couldn't be arsed with all the high maintenance extras.

butwhateverfor · 25/02/2020 00:17

I must see the toilets and showers before I make a decision.

Likethebattle · 25/02/2020 00:21

Meh 🤷🏻‍♀️

HeronLanyon · 25/02/2020 00:47

BeUtiful pool and lake but a quick google search shows it to be very built up in stockbroker belt type way. Obvs 12 acres is great but surrounded by really similar houses - hundreds of them. I’d feel socially claustrophobic.

Danglingmod · 25/02/2020 06:59

I much prefer Holly head's too.

Either an authentic, architect-designed mid-century property or a Georgian, Victorian or Edwardian villa (in a city) would be my dream homes.

Squigean · 25/02/2020 07:13

Liking the Marazion property (linked by ElGuardiandenoche) I'd go with that one, then keep the extra million plus for a nice sun holiday or two.

Squigean · 25/02/2020 07:23

Inspired by this thread I took a look at million euro properties around (well same city) as me.

I'm feeling a bit confused by the access to the kitchen from the front door in this one (floor plan in photos):

www.property.ie/property-for-sale/Norwood-44-Cowper-Road-Rathmines-Dublin-6/2396103/

Also having looked at the photos in this one and the other linked ones, photograph in Estate agencies seems a bit lacking in thought!!

Squigean · 25/02/2020 07:28

Ok, everyone stop panicking!! I've figured out that access to the kitchen. They are downstairs not just turn in up stairs.

As you were ...

SoupDragon · 25/02/2020 07:30

That one is more to my taste. Access to the kitchen is down the half flight of stairs at the end of the hallway.

3luckystars · 25/02/2020 07:30

I love it.

SoupDragon · 25/02/2020 07:31

The ceilings are too low in the first house - I couldn't live there. I can see its appeal though.

AllPointsNorth · 25/02/2020 07:43

ElGuardian that’s definitely my favourite house!
History, a library, a beach and decent weather. Perfect.

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 25/02/2020 07:51

www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/52472258?search_identifier=7a16076c78e7d30aa5fc2662a86c4c3c This is one of the most expensive in a 20 mile radius to me...that red carpet is vile!
And the room with all the bandits in-what is that all about? Grin
