Genital herpes worry

Hi there diagnosed over 20 years ago. Very rarely have outbreak but typically I have a date Friday and a lump on my genitals has appeared. I'm unsure if herpes, it's quite hard to touch and bigger than usual. Looking in the mirror isn't really helping much and the photos I've took are all rubbish...I've started taking aciclovir and using comped patches but just not sure if I'm barking up the wrong tree...has anyone else with GH had similar?

I work in sexual health but I’d say it’s really hard to say. It could be, or it could be an ingrown hair that’s become infected or something. That said, it isn’t worth the chance. Just take sex off the table for the weekend until it’s sorted.

Mine tends to be bumps rather than the open sores that seem to be described I'd just be cautious and wait
