The Olympics

Tokyo is hosting the Olympics in exactly five months time. I don’t think it should be cancelled or will be cancelled because of Corona but do you think it’s wise for people across the globe to flock to one contained space for some weeks given how cautious certain countries are being about the threat of the virus?

Not the Olympics, but the world's biggest annual mobile technology conference/trade show that tens/hundreds of thousands of people attend was supposed to happen this week has been cancelled.

Singapore airlines have cancelled a load of flights over the coming weeks due to Corona. The stock markets are taking a big tumble.

Who knows how it will pan out over the next few months?

My DH is an Olympic official due to be there, nothing has been decided yet, but we had similar in the run up to Rio with the Zika virus. They won’t cancel unless they’re told to by government I’m sure.

I don’t think they’ll cancel either and five months is a long time. I just wonder whether when countries being so cautious in quarantining and containing their citizens, it’s a good idea for millions of people across the globe to gather in one space and then freely fly back to their own countries when there’s so much emphasis at the moment of the risk.
