Anyone renewed an adult passport lately? How many days did it take to come?

My mate has been invited on a trip 11th March.

But her passport is expired.

She's on a budget so can't really afford the more expensive option of a week, bit she's weighing it up...

What are the chances of it getting back in time?

I did mine in December. I applied online on the Monday (and sent my old passport the same day). Had my new one on the Friday (so 5 days in total).

She might have to suck up the expensive option if she wants to be sure she can go

Depends which passport office it gets routed to.
Dh and I applied on line a couple of weeks ago (on a Saturday afternoon) - his went to Peterborough office, mine to Durham. He had his back within the week, mine took two weeks.
(I know which offices they went to as there was a cock-up on the payment page and I had to ring the helpline immediately after applying.)

Applied for DH on the 10th, received new one on the 21st. No fast track or anything.

His went to Durham, my kids to Peterborough and I haven’t heard about their ones yet and sent them the same day.

Mine took a week

DD’s took 5 days from when the PO declared it lost (Belfast)

Partner renewed first week of January ( can't remember the exact date)
Passport back 20th.

It was 3rd Jan.

So 17days
