Sore scalp

My scalp is so sore/tender and I don't know why. It always been very sensitive - I hate blow dries and can't have it tied up tightly, but today it has just been painful all day and feels tingly when I run my fingers through my hair but not in a nice way. Does anyone know what could be causing it? 🙁

Are you a redhead by any chance?

ThisIsFine · 23/02/2020 20:02

I'm not, is it common among redheads?

Sorry posted too soon. I am and my GP said redheads feel pain more intensely particularly on their scalp. I’m not sure if it’s true but it’s true for me. When I get even the smallest amount of irritation it really hurts and tingles and I hate having anyone touch my hair.

I get this a lot, dr never really had an answer, often it feels like my scalp is bruised, hurts to touch patches/tie hair up and then the next day it’s gone. Never found an answer - I am a redhead though so would be interested to see what that link is!!

I’ve had this, like you say it feels tingly and bruised. Mine started when I used Aussie shampoo, switched back to my usual one and the pain stopped. I put it down to a reaction to an ingredient in the shampoo.

I get this, my scalp is so tender that it hurts to touch and move my hair, if I change parting it's agony. Then it goes back to normal. Weird. I'm not a redhead.

Oh well at least I'm not alone! It's really bothering me. Might just take some painkillers and see how it goes.
